Contracted Postal Truck Injures Sleeping Woman

A Greenville, Carolina resident was injured as she slept by an unlikely source: a truck full of mail plowed through the side of her one-story house.

Teresa Bass, 57, was fast asleep at 6:23 AM when Lamantric Joyner ran off the road and slammed into Bass's home. Joyner was driving a truck that had been contracted by the U.S. Postal service, and traveled 319 feet before it slammed through Bass's bedroom wall. Bass was taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to a larger medical center, where she remains in serious condition. Joyner has been charged with careless and reckless driving, though troopers say there was dense fog at the time of the accident.
